Enjoy your favorite yummy & spicy Gravy-Rice Bowl
*Rajma Masala*
Ingredients required (For 1 Person)
Rajma/Red Kidney Beans (1/2 cup)
Mustard oil (5 tablespoon)
Cumin seeds (1 teaspoon)
Asafoetida/Hing (1/4 teaspoon)
4 Chopped green chilly
2 Finely chopped onion
1 Teaspoon ginger garlic paste
Turmeric Powder (1 teaspoon)
Red chilly powder (1 teaspoon)
Coriander/Dhaniya powder (1 teaspoon)
2 Finely chopped tomatoes
1 Diced potato
1/2 Lemon
Salt (As per taste)
Garam Masala (1/4 teaspoon)
Green Coriander
Baking soda (2-3 pinches)
Method of Preparation
Soak 1/2 cup rajma overnight.
Add soaked rajma, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 2-3 pinch baking soda in a pressure cooker. Add water and boil for 5-6 whistles.
Crush the boiled rajma slightly to thicken gravy (optional).
Heat 5-6 tablespoon mustard oil in a cooker and add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera) & 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing).
Add 4 chopped green chilly and 2 chopped onions. Saute well.
Add 1 teaspoon each of turmeric powder, red chilly powder & coriander powder. Mix well.
Add 2 finely chopped tomatoes and saute everything till oil starts releasing.
Add 1 diced potato and boiled & crushed rajma. Mix well.
Add salt as per taste and some water to adjust the consistency.
Cover & cook for 3-4 more whistles.
Uncover and squeeze in half a lemon, add 1/4 teaspoon garam masala and some chopped green coriander.
Mix well and serve hot with rice or roti.
