How much fancy food we eat for a few days, but after that we start craving for a basic bowl of dal and rice..!!
Ingredients required
1 Bowl yellow lentil/Toor dal/Arhar dal cooked for 2 whistles on low flame
1 finely chopped medium onion
1 finely chopped medium tomato
2 green chilly
Chopped green coriander
1 inch ginger cut into julienne
Clarified Butter/Desi Ghee
Cumin seeds
Asafoetida/Hing
Red chilly powder
Coriander powder
Garam masala
1 dried red chilly
Ginger garlic paste
Lemon
Method of Preparation
Heat 2 tablespoon clarified butter/desi ghee in a pan.
Add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add 1 dried red chilly, 1/4 teaspoon hing, 2 green chilly split into half and a few ginger julienne. Saute well.
Add chopped onions and saute well.
Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and saute everything well to cook onions.
Add 1/4 teaspoon each of red chilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Mix well.
Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they become soft.
Add cooked yellow lentil (toor dal) and mix well.
Squeeze 1.2 a lemon and mix well.
Add chopped coriander, mix and serve hot with rice or roti.
Garnish with some chopped tomato, green coriander, split green chilly, ginger julienne and some desi ghee.
